I was initially approached by this realtor on the 6th of May, 2015. He contacted me as a result of a for sale by owner listing I had. He approached the discussion, in hindsight, very sneakily. He asked if I was still accepting offers and if I was signed with anyone. To which I replied yes and no respectively. He then asked if I was interested in working with a realtor, I said not really. He then questioned whether or not I’d be interested if my townhouse could be sold within 30 days – well of course, who wouldn’t be. Of course looking back, I was an idiot to listen to him at all. I met with him on May 8, 2015 and despite a weird gut feeling, decided to sign with him (always go with your gut). During our meeting I informed him that I wanted an aggressive marketing approach – he assured me it would be. His first action after signing was apparently to tweet it – he has 13 followers, none of which give a crap about buying a townhouse – this is not aggressive. I had one showing after ten days. It took two days for him to get back to me after the showing and let me know that he’d keep marketing the property. I had to follow-up to that email and ask that an open house be held on the 31st of May, 2015 to which he responded he’d put it on the schedule. May 25th I had to ask that he put the pool on my listing as he hadn’t, this is a fairly key feature to my complex that was missing for the first two and a half weeks of my listing. May 26th I had to ask him to put the unit number on the sign, due to condo sign regulations, it was unclear which unit is for sale. This is not something that I feel I should have had to request, in a large complex like mine, that should have been common sense. May 28th he tweeted about the open house. Again, his 13 followers don’t care. June 1st I had an email that one couple went to the open house and he would follow up and I heard nothing since. By June 11th, I’d had enough – two tweets, an ad on Kijiji and the worst designed feature sheets I’ve ever seen (you could hardly read them, they looked like they were created by a 12 year-old), I got in touch with the brokerage insisting on cancelling. This request led to the first contact I’d had in weeks asking why – seriously??? He informed me that he would leave my house key at a local branch that day. I went home at lunch and the sign was gone (within two hours of me calling), so I went by the office to pick up my key – it was not there, he claimed he didn’t have time to drive three minutes to drop it off and I’d have to go back the next day to get it. To really drive home the point of how bad this realtor is, I received a call two weeks ago, with the same pitch. He was dodgy about giving his name at first, until I insisted and when he told me it was him again I almost died. He asked about the ad on Kijiji, which had me confused as my new realtor didn’t do one, so I looked it up. This realtor is so bad that he is calling sellers on ads that he put up himself and got fired from. He is lazy, to say the least, and my most recent interaction with him has me seriously considering his intelligence. I would never, in a million years, let anyone I know, or don’t know deal with this “realtor”.
