My name is LAURA HEALEY, and I am a realtor living and working in the beautiful ‘Hub City’ of Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island.
I absolutely love life in my immediate community of Nanaimo’s Old City Quarter, and all over this incredible island, sincerely considering it a privilege to help others fulfill their real estate dreams here. As a Vancouver Island girl through and through I know the island extremely well – especially the Central Island region - so can help you find the home of your dreams in the area you desire, or else guide you in selling your home for the highest market value. Why do so with me? Well, real estate as a profession seems to be something of a family thing: my father spent many years running a large mortgage brokerage, and my mother was once a legal conveyancer for a large Comox Valley real estate firm, so I guess it’s in my blood!

I was born in Comox and grew up in the gorgeous Miracle Beach area. I worked in Customer Service at Mountain Meadow Sports and the Kingfisher Oceanside Resort & Spa (both in Courtenay), before moving to Nanaimo in 2001 to attend university for five years. Graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business & Marketing, I worked for Starbucks® in Vancouver, then Enterprise Rent-A-Car® in Courtenay and Duncan, before returning to Nanaimo…where, because I love the city so much, I have remained ever since!

In my downtime I love exploring beautiful Vancouver Island with my dog, spending time with family and friends, and both local and international travel. The mild climate here, as well as the proximity of the city to nature and major cities like Vancouver, Victoria and even Seattle, make Nanaimo an ideal home for me, which is another reason I love to help people find their forever homes in Nanaimo. I also practice yoga and maintain a healthy lifestyle, especially by eating local produce from the many excellent farmers’ markets on Vancouver Island.

This realtor really listens. Prior to assisting you with your property search, she listens, and ensures that she clearly understands your hopes and wishes for the purchase of your home. She answers questions quickly on any medium (email, text etc) and is happy to book any showings that you request. She is honest with her opinions and is very knowledgeable around services and resources in the surrounding community. She is patient and does not rush you to make a decision, rather assisting you to consider the pros and cons of each property while pointing out factors that you may not have considered. When we were interested in moving from Ontario to the Nanaimo, we searched the Internet for a real estate agent that would have integrity and knowledge of the Island market. In addition, since we were buying from another province, we needed our agent to be honest and trustworthy, as if she was buying a home for herself. To say that Laura met these qualities is a complete understatement. Laura first asked many questions about what we wanted in our future Island home She then actively searched for homes that met our criteria. She did not push but guided us with feedback about different areas and types of homes. When our dream Island home came up on the market, she skillfully navigated the very difficult negotiations (as the market was red hot with many bids). With her suggestion that we supply the seller with a personal letter we were picked from the various bids even though we did not have the highest bid. Since our purchase Laura has also been our advisor and friend helping us with adapting to the Island (insurance, driver’s licenses, utilities and so forth).
