I was making an out of town purchase so I interview a number of local realtors. The initial call with Alket went well. He seemed enthused to earn my business and also has experience with rental properties and renovations so that was of particular interest to me as I was looking to buy a rental property. He was good throughout most of the process but when I really needed him the most, he dropped the ball. As I was out of town and the market was very hot, I didn't have time to, get there in person nor line up a Property Inspector. Given Alket's experience in rentals and renovations, he would take a careful look through the home looking for items in need of repair and/or broken items and he'd notify me there of. The results of his walk through would determine what I'd offer on the home. He told me the house was good - he didn't alert me to any issues - so I proceeded to put in an over-asking Offer and ended up getting the home. When I went there for the Closing, there were a number of significant issues. When I asked Alket, he said "sorry" that he was too busy and didn't take a good look at the property. He should have told me that BEFORE I put the Offer in. As a result, I have $1000s in unexpected and un-budgeted work to do in the home. There were broken, very old and unsafe windows in the low-level, a big crack in the foundation and up the side of the home (fully visible from the outside), no heat source in the lower level washroom, the kitchen cupboard doors don't close, the back deck is unsafe including loose stairs and rotted wood etc. etc. I asked him a couple of times for assistance to remedy this situation but I've not received a response. Then he has the nerve to send me a Christmas card...showing a real lack of attention to Customer relations.
