She has gone so far above and beyond as a realtor, an advisor, and a true voice of reason during a process that had (before we met) been a source of a lot of uncertainty. My situation: after 20 years working in Los Angeles, I had decided to dust off my Canadian citizenship and relocate to Hamilton with my family. I fell in love with the city during a quick visit, and I reached out to Beth because another reviewer had mentioned her unique warmth and her supportive approach, in an industry filled with phonies. I had a ton of questions and both vague and specific ideas about what sort of home would work for me and my family. Weeks before, I had sold my home in California, and though the transaction was fine, the realtors seemed pretty checked out, and ultimately weren’t advocating for me as much as for their company. I was proceeding with caution. From the first phone call, Beth was focused and enthusiastic, without a whiff of guile or sketchiness. Like a friendlier Ken Jennings, she answered my many questions about Hamilton, the housing market, insurance, and lots of particulars about various neighborhoods. She had practical solutions for obstacles I’d face during the search. She’s great at condensing complicated information (municipal requirements, construction codes, contract legalese) into crystal clear info. Her knowledge of the housing market was both vast and thorough, and elevated by sharp intuition. But more importantly, she’s just pleasant as hell, and great company during a process that can be challenging. Based on my time constraints, Hamilton’s layout, and all my aforementioned vague/specific parameters, Beth put together a plan for the home search. The list of viewings included homes I’d requested to see, and lots of places she suggested that were a good fit. We ended up seeing around 20 homes in just a few days. She mapped it all out really well so that we could zip out or take our time, depending on my reaction to each place. She also noticed and pointed out both positive and negative elements in each property— what attributes were rare for Hamilton, what would need repair, what factors might change the sale price. It was SO HELPFUL and provided tremendous reassurance. She was also really nice to the house cats we encountered. Very important, that. This review is already too long, because I still feel relieved that I got to work with a kind and reliable realtor. Hopefully I don’t sound like a lunatic. I’ll wrap things up! Beth found the home I ultimately ended up purchasing. It lined up with all of my hopes (size, condition, lovely area) and fulfilled some I hadn’t even expressed (brick, Tudor, giant yard, near great coffee). Beth made sure the purchase, transfer, and move-in process were easy and surprisingly peaceful. She negotiated on my behalf without upsetting the sellers, which was important to me, because they’d lived there for decades and maintained a beautiful place. Every step of the way, she recommended multiple options for companies to consider, from law firms to electricians. It was such a joy to close on my new home. Beth has continued to respond to my (many) questions with the same focus and clarity. Anyone, local or fresh off the boat, would be lucky to work with her. Above and beyond, you guys.
