Darryl is a no-nonsense type of agent that does not hesitate to share his knowledge, expertise and – most importantly – his down-to-earth perspectives on various neighbourhoods, houses and developers. Darryl’s candidness helped steer us clear of less-than-stellar neighbourhoods which greatly simplified our search. He kept us away from neighbourhoods that were not well maintained, lacked infrastructure or were shiny and new... but with low build quality and no privacy. He guided us through the types of questions to ask and what to look out for. In terms of finding the right house, Darryl held an initial meeting where he got to know us, understood our lifestyle & budget and learned what we were looking for in our home. He used this information and feedback from viewings to curate the listings we went to view. He advocated being strategic in our viewings so as to not exhaust ourselves driving between cities and to keep us from getting discouraged by viewing a lot of properties that wouldn’t actually work for us. He offered to scout out houses ahead of time if it made sense (though we luckily found our house relatively quickly) and never once pressured us on any house. Darryl had a good sense of the market value of houses and coached us through two offers: the first one had 6 offers and we were close. The second we narrowly won against 20 other offers. Lastly, Darryl connected us with his network of professionals (broker, lawyer) who all seem to be of the same caliber as Darryl. Overall, I highly recommend Darryl as a real estate agent. He has excellent knowledge of the Waterloo Region and will not steer you wrong.
