It was never lost on me that my business was nowhere near the most lucrative for Ollie. As a first-time homebuyer, I just assumed we’d be back-burner clients, getting the scraps of time Ollie had available. I mean, let’s be real. The man is the top realtor practically month after month. I had to assume you don’t get there by dealing with buyers on low budgets like us. Suffice it to say, my expectations for the attention we’d get were low, and lo and behold, Ollie blew those expectations out of the water. He had time for us day and night and set aside specific days that were just for us to look at what was out there. We were so excited, and he nurtured that excitement and made it even better. Then the day came when something hit the market that we absolutely had to have. We had already missed out on one just like it. We'd been waiting with bated breath for another one to come up and there it was. Another one came up while we were on vacation, and I immediately called Ollie and said "that's the one, we need to get it!". Ollie understood the assignment. He seen my wife and I struggling to get on the same page but on this one, we were locked in together. Well, Ollie got us in there on the day of the open house, before the open house. I thought that was the slickest thing ever. Such a stud realtor move. We had a special time slot before everybody else, so it was clear he understood we had to have this place. Then, when it came time to negotiate, I was so glad I had Ollie in my corner because I was about to pay sticker price, offer more, and throw in free car washes for life. Meanwhile, Ollie had plans to negotiate much bigger chunks in the opposite direction. I was terrified, but I let him do his job. I mean, what do I know? This was his bread and butter. Well, we got the house, and not only did I not pay sticker price, but Ollie got it down by $8,000 to $10,000, if I remember correctly, and ensured we got new windows to replace the old, leaky ones and a brand-new hot water tank. I was floored. I didn’t realize we were in a position of strength. I just had tunnel vision, as did my wife. We just had to have the place. If it were up to us, we’d have been sweetening the deal and giving away our shirts. Anyways, why did I write such a long write-up, you might ask? Well, because it took me way too long to get this done, so I thought I’d make it good.Let me be clear. This is a realtor who deserves a little extra time on a review. Oh, and by the way, I strongly suggest you recommend him to your friends, because I did, and that little $500 bump was sweet. Plus, he threw in a $20 gift card early on, before they even sold the house, just to say thanks. Now, I don’t know if that’s standard practice or not, but regardless, if you want the best, go with Ollie. Long write up or not, it's really just that simple.
