At the start of my search for a realtor, I came to realize that I would require a team of professionals to help me, and my biggest initial concern was how best to find and assemble that team. There were only a few names that I had heard about through the years, and one in particular, Siu Ta. Siu was in contact with my lawyer and facilitated the marketing and sale of the property within the strictures of the probate process. Her knowledge about the probate process, combined with her knowledge of the regional real estate market, enabled her to procure an offer on the property that was well above asking. On the night of the offer, I could only think that my late brother would have been satisfied with the offer. My experience of working with Siu was very educational. She took the time to go over concepts and ideas, to explain market forces and regional variabilities, as well as what is possible in terms of the constraints of awaiting probate. She worked hard and tirelessly and was always available for questions and concerns, despite my being in Vancouver. She worked well with my friends in Toronto, who acted on my behalf while I was in Vancouver. When my friend first recommended Siu to me, she said that Siu would work hard to help me. What I initially sought in a realtor was experience: someone who is a career realtor. In Siu, I found an experienced and established realtor, who has earned a solid reputation among her peers - something I discovered as I witnessed her interacting with other realtors. I appreciated her hardworking ethic, her respectful approach to her peers and other professionals, her enthusiasm for her career and her straightforward and direct approach. Do not count on her to “sugar-coat” what needs to be done. Do not count on her to do the “easy” thing, even though it may feel “easier” for her client, if it is not the best approach. Do count on her to tell it like it is. Do count on her to tell you to do the hard thing when the hard thing needs to be done. In short, I would recommend Siu to my friends and family for any real estate service. If not for her, these past few months of serving as the executor of my late brother’s estate would have been unbearable. I am still standing because of her!
