Although I have bought and sold several homes of my own over the years the experience of selling my brother’s home as his Power of Attorney in a city that I do not reside in started out as daunting. I wanted to do my best for my brother. Based on what I knew of his home I researched and researched realtors (both online and through word of mouth) in the City of Courtenay until I came up with a list of 12 prospective realtors who appeared to have the specific experience needed to sell a home from the early 1970s. From there I narrowed it down to four. I contacted and interviewed the four bringing the list down to two potential realtors. Ultimately I chose Travis Nelson Personal Real Estate Corporation - Royal LePage in the Comox Valley. Why did I choose Travis? Where do I begin? From the start he listened, really listened. He came to our meeting prepared. He was personable, answered all my questions thoughtfully and, a couple of days later, provided me with the most comprehensive in-depth Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) I have ever received. Having given me as much time as I needed to review it he then walked me through it, answering my particularly analytical questions. To say I was impressed is an understatement…and I am not easily impressed. There was no question that I believed Travis would serve both my brother and me well. We agreed to work together. From there we ultimately agreed on the best price for the property. In my past real estate journeys I have been quite involved in the drafting of the MLS description and selection of photos. Travis proved to be an excellent writer. His choice of photos was right on. I had virtually nothing to add or change to his draft MLS listing. Throughout the process of selling he kept me informed every step of the way, explained anything I was not sure about and actively negotiated on my behalf with a variety of offers. My brother’s home sold in a very timely manner. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Travis. A real estate journey that started out with lot of apprehension on my part turned in to a most agreeable experience due to Travis’s expertise, attention to detail, professionalism and character. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Thank you ever so much Travis.
