When we found out we were moving to Calgary from out of province, I did a lot of research before deciding to contact two realtors who had really good reviews. After speaking with both realtors, I knew we should go with Colin: his response was very prompt and after our initial phone call he followed up with a very informative email about the city of Calgary which we really appreciated. We remained in contact with Colin, asking questions about Calgary and continuously adjusting our search parameters for over a month before we actually came to Calgary. One thing that really stood out to me during that month was the level of information Colin provided in each email whenever we had questions or comments. To me, details are so important, especially with the biggest purchase of your life! It showed that Colin was fully invested in providing us with the most important information and that he was spending time on his responses. It never felt like he was just firing off a quick response to us. I saw on his business page that he talked about enjoying educating people on the home ownership experience and that's truly what he did. I learned so much from Colin about the process of buying a home. He always pointed out things to note that I never would have thought to check! He also helped so much in always explaining our options. Now to the actual house viewing process: we were in a bind to find The One as soon as we possibly could. I felt guilty that we were asking Colin to show us so many different places but he was always pleasant and accommodating. Colin never pressured us to buy anything. I had heard that realtors would try to get you to buy something so they could get a quick commission and be done with the deal. Colin said we should love the house so we kept looking until we found The One. When we put an offer in, he honestly told us what he thought the house was worth. We had a different view of the market since we were coming from an insanely hot market and we thought we would have to offer way over list to be in competition with other buyers. And I would have thought that a realtor might encourage that (for their commission), but Colin was always on our side, explaining the market in Calgary and always trying to get us the best deal. He really personified the saying of "working for the client." When we found our house, everything was suddenly moving very fast for removing conditions. Colin gave us detailed instructions and he helped us with arranging the home inspection and connecting us with a lawyer. That was a relief because we didn't know who was reliable, especially with such a short timeline. When Colin called to say we had a firm sale on The House, he was so happy for us. It felt like we were all celebrating together. One person in my life has told me that my expectations are too high when it comes to people's work competence. He said I should just accept the fact that most people are bad at their jobs. I can't accept that! It's your job! That's why I was so impressed with Colin. His professionalism and competence were truly a breath of fresh air. It's such a relief to know you're dealing with an expert when conducting your search for the biggest purchase of your life. You will not regret going with Colin if you need to buy or sell a house!
