My sister and sister and I wanted to buy an acreage in the Nanaimo area to have a hobby farm and horses. Tom and Jan made a big lifestyle change as easy as it could have been on their end. We had an accepted offer on a larger acreage but ended up having our financing fall through due to house sales in Vancouver correcting so much. Tom handled unwinding the deal when we were a bit devastated, and got us looking at slightly lower prices properties once we had all of our money in hand from our sale. He traipsed around all of the farms we looked at to get an idea of what we could handle, offering comments on what roof was end of life with a replacement estimate, etc. Buying a farm is more complex than buying a house. The land, the location, the house, the outbuildings, and the utilities are all different in combination. Tom looked into all of those aspects, as well as answering our land agent father’s many questions. We ended up being able to negotiate a reasonable price that was within our risk tolerance so we could make some improvements to the property upon moving in. Jan made sure we had all of the info we needed about starting our Hydro, getting insurance, etc. My sister misses hanging out with Tom for property search stuff because they got along really well. 100% would use them again, and highly recommend their expertise and service!
