We hired Laura McCollom to sell our home in summer 2020, based on the recommendation of a friend. Laura exceeded our expectations from the get-go, with her clear communication on value calculations and details on what she could and would actually do for us as sellers. Her follow through was exceptional, suggesting ways to accentuate the positives in our home and arranging a deluxe photo shoot including professional drone footage. Buyers who came to view in person only needed to experience sounds and touch – the rest they had already seen online. Laura’s stated strength as a negotiator proved true, with a suitable Contract quickly and painlessly concluded. Then, we needed to find a new home. We have previously purchased two homes successfully without a realtor, but as both Laura and our friend had promoted her usefulness in this venue as well, we decided to give her a try. Having informed her of our criteria, we used her “hotsheet” for properties to view. We assumed this was where her usefulness ended. Surprisingly, rather than just arranging viewings, she attended with us and gave her opinions on the asking/projected sale price, problems she noticed, including advising on how expensive those problems could be if we purchased! In some cases, she had previously viewed the properties we requested to view and advised us why they didn’t fit our criteria. Upon viewing a couple, we realized she was correct! She gave us invaluable assistance in negotiating and concluding our purchase – we were 1 of 4 competing offers. She always gave us her frank opinion, kept us on track to our desired outcome, but left the decisions up to us. She’s also put us on to a number of terrific tradespeople for renos to our new home, and another realtor up the Island for selling another property. We have no hesitation in recommending Laura to sellers and buyers alike. She’s a terrific resource, with a positive attitude and good sense of humour to boot!
