Douglas Hubscher I grew up on an orchard in Vernon, BC where early on I developed a strong work ethic, a desire to learn and to take on new things. By the time I was 14 years old I was driving our one ton Dodge truck, driving the car and operating our tractor. I could work off a twelve foot ladder, thin apples, pick apples, change sprinklers and help cut firewood. I could shoot, hunt, fish and if need be survive in the woods. I could also operate a ski boat in the summer and a ski-doo in the winter After graduating high school I taught myself how to operate a chainsaw and went logging with my uncle Ed for a while. Hired on with Kal-Pine Forest Products where I ran Forklift, D9 Cat, Skidder and 955 Front end loader loading logging trucks until I left to attend College in Prince George. I graduated as a Forest Resource Technologist from the College of New Caledonia in 1979 and hired on part time with West Fraser Mills in Quesnel. This led me to a full time position in Chetwynd. After two years in Forestry doing a wide variety of things, I was offered and accepted the Shipper and Local Lumber Sales position at the sawmill. This over time grew to where I was doing the Shipping, Lumber sales, First Aid and Safety, and Quality Control for finished product in the Planer. In addition to all this and in my spare time, I became qualified as an EMA 1 (Paramedic) with the Ministry of Health, Provincial Ambulance Service in Chetwynd and soon took charge as the Unit Officer managing the entire station. After ten years working for West Fraser Mills I accepted the Sales Co-ordinator position at the Adams Lake division of International Forest Products (INTERFOR). After doing this for ten years I was promoted to the Quality Control Supervisor for the entire sawmill in 1999. In addition to working as a full time supervisor at the sawmill I volunteered as one of the founding members of the South Shuswap First Responders. With my experience managing the Ambulance station in Chetwynd I was positioned perfectly to understand the operational logistics of how the Ministry of Health, Emergency Services operates and how the South Shuswap First Responders can best support and promote the service of the local Paramedics for the benefit of all living in the South Shuswap. I left INTERFOR in 2005 and by 2006 I was a REALTOR®, licenced in Real Estate Trading Services selling residential properties in the South Shuswap. I returned to the UBC Sauder School of Business and upgraded my Trading Services licence to a Real Estate Broker. For five years I ran my own Brokerage (by my self) and then in 2013 I joined Royal LePage Access Real Estate in Salmon Arm. Which of course is where I am today. I remain as a former Director of the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board (now the Association of Interior REALTORS®) and I presently volunteer as an active member of the Association’s Professional Conduct Committee. The latest change is after living in Notch Hill (Sorrento) for over 30 years Joy and I have moved to Canoe. Being closer to my Salmon Arm office and still being able to easily serve Real Estate needs from Sorrento to Enderby to Sicamous and all points in between.

Doug was one of the nicest people we could of had represent us. We had home on market during summer and we didnt have our air conditioner and he brought his down to us so that we could survive the horrible heat and he paid for many things out of his pocket. Nicest person around. - Dorthy Severinski
