We were moving out of state and Stephanie was recommended to us by our local KW realtor. Stephanie didn’t disclose that the sellers had switched out an induction cooktop range for a (significantly cheaper) gas range, which was noted in the realtor RMLS, but was not public. We had never seen an induction cooktop before, so we assumed what was in the house was the same thing that was pictured and advertised. We had a whole conversation with Stephanie about induction cooktops, how they work, and what kind of pots and pans can be used on them. We later discovered that what we had assumed was the advertised appliance wasn’t at all the same and contacted Stephanie. She hadn’t realized it was different either and said she’d reach out to the seller’s agent about it. Allegedly the seller’s agent wanted to “make it right” and asked what they could do to fix this. We told Stephanie we wanted the price difference between the 2 appliances and never heard back. We had to keep following up with her, asking what was going on. She told us she’d give us the other realtor’s contact info so we could “cut out the middleman (I.e me).” Wow. Thanks. The seller’s realtor wasn’t willing to work with us at all, so we have no idea why we were told they wanted to “make things right.” On top of that, Stephanie pretended on emails with her broker that she knew the gas range was there all along and she was completely surprised we were expecting something different. I don’t deal well with liars. Owning up to her mistake and apologizing would have gone a long way. Stephanie did neither. Stephanie also pushed us to do a very short closing time period (2 weeks) and didn’t include appliances in our contract, which I don’t remember specifically discussing, but not saying we didn’t. I have never heard of a house coming without a stove and the refrigerator was already gone. I didn’t think there were any appliances that would need to be specifically included, but I guess that’s not the case. There was 1 other offer on the house, but it was lower than ours and the house had been on the market for awhile. We went in at full asking price, but Stephanie still recommended making all these concessions that favor the sellers. I trusted her expertise over my gut instinct and I regret it. We got screwed over and now Stephanie is lying to our faces (and everyone else’s) about it. - Megan
