Home Purchase in Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada | Nov 2020
If you are reading this because a friend referred you to Barry Angus, you won’t be disappointed! I highly recommend Barry, he helped me buy my first apartment about 10 years ago and has been my realtor ever since. Last spring I bought a new condo without using him, it was a mistake and he got me out of that situation quickly and helped me buy the new home that I live in now. He has continued to follow up with the builder to make sure some of the deficiencies are carried out. He even called the city on my behalf about cutting down some dangerous nuisance trees at the back which are on City property. He also sold my original condo which by now needed some update and prep for selling. He took this on himself without my asking, changed all the lights, had the carpets cleaned, even replaced and painted some baseboards. I think he went above and beyond and I will continue to use Barry for any future real estate needs and refer him to any friends looking to buy and sell. Very happy with his service. - Nathan Johnston
Condo Purchase in Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada | Oct 2021
We met Barry shortly after arriving in Canada and wanting to buy a home. We got referred to Barry through a friend of ours who he had helped them buy their first townhome and she was so happy with him For the past 15 years we have only used Barry for every deal, condo, then 3 house sales listing and purchasing then bought the investment condo pre-sale We Have completely trusted and trust Barry for everything regarding Selling our home and buying a home he’s amazing to work with he goes way and beyond especially for us that English is our second language he always takes the time of Explaining he’s so patient and knowledgable and Kind always making sure we understood the procedures and giving the best advice We were so thrilled when we finalized our investment property ,with Barry’s help and recommendations despite all the obstacles at the time of the pre-sale in 2018 with a very hot market and him being out of town and then Covid-19 Pandemic he made everything go so smoothly. At that time he put as in touch with up another buyer who also purchased .There was a lineup and we were able to hold spot in line and give each other a break etc. We kept in touch throughout the process. We changed units then changed the rental program that he Walked me through and explaining the strata rules and how to make the changes myself We used his mortgage broker and he kept updating as through the pandemic was always there for everything we have a Peace of mind when working with Barry He went with us for the walk-thru then on possession day we were both working so as Always Barry will have things done stress free he picked up the keys and brought them to my work. I Completely trust and recommend Barry to anyone whom I know. Look forward to working with him again. Thank you for Everything Barry - Alda D
Home Purchase in Westwood Plateau, Coquitlam, BC, Canada | Aug 2021
Barry helped us find our first home in 2015 and kept in touch over the years with market updates occasionally showing us houses for our next upgrade. When it came time to sell he had lots of ideas to help show the house which included cleaning out the garage and painting. Our garage was so full he let us store a lot of our stuff at his home. He listed the townhome and sold it in a week for the highest price in the complex and then told us we could leave our stuff in his place until we actually moved. This was such a bonus! During the sale process he had negotiated flexible dates, at the time we didn’t think that was important but he was right it took several months to find our new home and if we didn’t have that date change it would have been difficult. Another thing I really appreciated was he had cleaners come to our townhome and our new home. This was really helpful and we really appreciate Barry doing that. My husband and kids are so happy with our new home and all the help and experience he provided us. We will definitely use Barry for our realtor again and refer him to anyone we know looking for a good realtor! - Shannyn H

I have known Barry Angus for over 20 years. My daughter introduced him to me as he had worked for her and her husband on purchasing and selling properties. Additionally, my son has also worked with Barry to purchase and sell as well. I have bought and sold several properties with Barry in the past 20 years. I find him to be very knowledgeable in all areas of the Lower Mainland. Barry is caring and listens to the needs of what I require. He goes above and beyond what I have received from other realtors in the past. If there is any way to get the deal done, he will ensure that it does get completed. I would not hesitate to recommend Barry to anyone whom I know. Look forward to working with him again. Keep up the great work Barry! - Peter Hollander
Property Purchase in Port Coquitlam, BC | Feb 2020
Worst realtor ever used. Met realtor at an open house I was interested in. He called after unsuccessful offer to purchase, notifying me that another unit in same complex came available but is in bad shape. He said that it's a great deal and if you renovate, then will look same as the unsuccessful purchase. He confirmed that he was able to obtain a verbal authorization from the strata council woman that the renos I wanted to do did not require a written authorization throughout the process. I purchased this home, hired the contractor he suggested and recommended and started the renos. I kept asking to ensure he received the verbal authorizations and he said yes as the council woman is a long time client of his and she's been advised what I wanted to do and i did not require strata's authorization as she is on the council and she said it's ok. Kept telling me that he's read the strata bylaws and what I wanted to do is authorized and he's been in the business for 35 years and therefore, I know what I'm doing because I read the bylaws many times, is what was advised many times over. Well, as it turns out, after my renovations were completed, I received a letter from the strata manager that the renovations completed is against bylaws due to no written authorization upfront. I mentioned the strata council woman's name and that my realtor on numerous occasions that an authorization was given. Then, the strata manager refused my explanation and wanted photos of the renos, and when I refused due to invasion of my privacy, it escalated to "the notice" which meant that they are forcing me to provide photos or in suite inspection. After receiving the email from the strata manager, I contacted this realtor immediately that he needed to fix this. He took his time and did not want to "involve" this council woman who gave the verbal authorizations. Well, it turned out he didn't get her authorization and/or she refused. After many conversations, I contacted his boss, and she advised me to do one thing, and when I contacted this realtor again as he left me several messages to call, he says, oh no, she, his manager said this. Totally opposite of what this manager advised me earlier. At the same conversation, he admits to lying and withholding information and about the upfront authorization he didnt obtain. He didn't get this authorization. I highly doubt he even asked this council woman. He told me this to get a sale. Not sure if he's been in the business for 35 years as obviously if he can't read or understand the strata bylaws. After all this, I read through the lengthy bylaws myself and guess what? You need a written upfront authorization for renos. What's worse is that he blames me for his error because he wants someone to blame for his error and negligence. I advised him that he is the professional that should have carefully read and advised me correctly without withholding information. I advised him that if renos were not possible, then I would have never purchased the unit or have it renovated. With all this, I don't think he feels that he did anything wrong. DO NOT USE THIS REALTOR. He will say one thing but do another or just plain lie to your face. He likes to blame his clients for his blatant negligence if something goes wrong because he needs to make himself feel better. This is the type of realtor who will say and do anything to sell you a home. He is also someone who makes realtors have a bad name. I am now stuck with dealing with this strata manager singling me out about providing photos and advising her of my right to privacy and unlawful request to enter my home for an inspection. - YJ
