Home Sale in Thorold | Jan 2012
Stay away from this Michael St. Jean Realty. The agency seems to be a front for Michael’s dad, Robin. Lots of dishonesty in advertising. It’s clear that their claim about spending the most on advertising than any realtor is because they pay for his son Michael’s name and picture to be put everywhere. How does that help sellers? Unfortunately, we didn’t read the small print when we signed a contract with one of his agents, and after Robin fired that agent for not being pushy enough, we were randomly assigned someone else. I contacted “Michael” St. Jean and was immediately foisted off onto Robin. I asked to be released from our agreement since they fired our agent. We only signed up because we found that agent empathetic to our unique circumstances involving a lot of special requirements needed to find a place that would suit our disabled son who requires 24/7 care. Robin scoffed at me, told me I was stuck with them given the contract, and repeatedly mocked the agent he had fired. Eventually Robin agreed that he would send us someone else who was more empathetic. The agent we were assigned is fine, but that doesn’t change the fact that Robin almost certainly violated the Ontario Human Rights Code by not allowing for a mutual release so we could find an agent who best understood our son’s needs. Next, when we went to sell our home, Robin’s advice was to list it for $695,000, when that did NOT reflect current market conditions and was a demonstrably lowball price. Then Robin brags about high sales volume? No wonder. I refused to list it for that price and instead listed it for $729,000. I sold it for $715,000 to the first couple who looked at it on the first full day it was listed and if not needing to sell quickly, could almost certainly have waited for more showings. Here’s a question, why does Robin get commission on the extra $20,000 + that I sold it for? Why don’t I get that commission since I am the one that made that happen do to my own research. He did nothing but offer self-serving advice, and gets to keep that extra $800 (+HST) in commission? The guy is an unethical and dishonest man who does not put his agency’s clients first. Stay away from Michael St. Jean at all cost. - Ron Thomson
Condo Sale in Ancaster | Jul 2023
Michael St Jean is the best real estate company I have ever dealt with. The entire team was extremely supportive and always available. Robin, our realtor was very professional and experienced. He guided me through each step in selling the house, making sure I understood. He was available whenever I had a question or needed help. He was extremely knowledgeable about the local market, familiar with the area and made the whole process feel effortless. His negotiation skills were top notch . The house was listed and sold in only 5 days above asking price. I am so grateful for Robin's hard work and dedication! Many thanks to Robin and the whole team. I highly recommend Michael St Jean Realty. - Sue McKeen

Robin St. Jean is an excellent agent and we are extremely pleased in how he handled the sale of our townhouse. We would recommend him to family and friends and are very impressed in how professional and knowledgeable he is in the real estate market. Thanks again for going above and beyond in helping us from the beginning to the end stage. - Frances and Tom Tomasevic
